Persaud, and Mark Torchia, states plainly that “human development begins at fertilization when a sperm fuses with an oocyte to form a single cell, the zygote.” At that moment, a complete, unique set of human DNA is formed — distinct from either parent’s — and that same DNA persists in every cell of that person’s body for the rest of their life.
